Adult assessment & treatment for all AOD problems
The adult alcohol and drug service provides information and counselling for adults who are experiencing problems with alcohol or other drugs. We also provide support for anyone affected by the alcohol or drug use of others.
At the beginning of treatment a comprehensive assessment is undertaken, and on the basis of this assessment a treatment plan is arrived at, collaboratively, between the therapist and client.
Depending on the nature of the problem and the wishes of the client, the treatment goal may be total abstinence from a substance or substances, or it might involve controlled use and reduced harm. A standard course of treatment would involve around six sessions of counselling, but could be more or less. We would also refer to more intensive inpatient treatment programmes where appropriate.
As in other parts of the service, we provide a confidential service and your permission is needed before information is shared with other agencies. A rare exception is if there are serious safety issues that might place you or someone else at risk.
Support and further information can be obtained by contacting our service via one of our contact options...
